Becca’s Portrait Session

Uploading this gallery brings a bright smile to my face. When Becca reached out to me about doing a portrait session to celebrate her accomplishment of graduating from Physician Assistant school, I was thrilled to say yes. Becca and I went to high school together, so coming together for a portrait session gave us the perfect opportunity to reconnect. Not only did we take the time to catch up about the practical details of our lives, but we also reminisced about high school, shared our dreams for the future, and commiserated over how quickly our lives are moving! It’s true—our lives are moving so fast. We’re changing. We’re growing. So when we do have the time to document the present moment, we should! It will be so exciting for Becca’s friends, family members, and future children to look back at these photos and celebrate her journey!

I also must admit, being able to celebrate Becca in our hometown of Lewes, Delaware, was a bonus. I rarely get to photograph in Lewes, and every time I have the opportunity to take my camera around town, my heart begs me to return for more. For a long time, I overlooked the beauty of our small town. Creating art with Becca gave me the opportunity to explore my town and my history with an artist’s eye. My family has lived in Lewes for decades! Yet, every time I visit town, I learn something new. For example, at the end of our session, Becca introduced me to a secluded beach spot, and I will most definitely be returning for more photographs (and possibly for some book time, or a nap) in the future. It was a heartwarming experience to reconnect with Becca and reconnect with my town in the process. I am looking forward to more sessions in Lewes as the year progresses.
